About The Founder
Founded in 2019 by Shawanna, RN, BScN, Alternative Beauty Artistry has grown from its beginnings in a small home studio into a trusted beauty practice serving clients across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

Shawanna is multi-certified in Permanent Makeup, semi-permanent makeup, and lash extensions, and is committed to ongoing professional development within the beauty industry. Her work is rooted in thoughtful consultation, detailed brow design, and high standards of hygiene and client care.

From the start, Shawanna’s passion for helping others guided her career path. She has an academic background in Social Work, Health Studies, and Health Services, and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she brings a strong understanding of skin health, wound healing, infection prevention, and client education into her beauty practice.
What began as a creative pursuit has evolved into a client-focused business built on trust, professionalism, and attention to detail. Shawanna is proud to offer services that blend artistry with a health-conscious approach, ensuring clients feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout their experience.
